The original bolt has the threads "distorted", when installed the threads straighten out, causing a locking effect, also the bolts have a flat "washer" head. That bevel faces down so that when you torque the bolts it does not crush the soft aluminum. . Andy, This is not correct. The 45 deg chamfer on the washer is to clear the radius on the underside of the bolt head.
